From seed to soil to harvest, Down River Farm utilizes small-scale regenerative farming to nourish the community and the land for current and future generations.
Unlike many vegetable growers in Central Illinois, Down River is not a traditional family farm. They are young folks returning to a rural farmstead to care for the land and grow healthy vegetables that nurture wellness in the community.
Down River Farm embraces eating with the seasons and with the weather, fueled by a vision for a thriving local food system and a deep connection to the landscape on a visceral level.
If they are successful, they believe this will encourage active preservation and stewardship of the land throughout their community and beyond.
